Nonprofit Resource Center

Nonprofit Resource Center Features

The Nonprofit Resource Center (NRC) offers FREE Access to the Funding Information Network (FIN). The FIN is a suite of online databases from Candid (previously known as the Foundation Center). The FIN offers the most up-to-date information on available grant opportunities and funding history for 140,000+ U.S. and international foundations, corporations, and federal agencies.

The Nonprofit Resource Center and the Funding Information Network subscription are funded through generous donations from the Mullock Family and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

  • Foundation Directory Online (FDO) database is a research tool that helps grant seekers locate the funding sources for nonprofit organizations, individuals, and businesses.
  • Grants to Individuals database identifies organizations that fund scholarships and creative or entrepreneurial projects.
  • The Nonprofit Resource Center also offers periodic workshops (free of charge) on how to use the online research tools, write grant proposals, budget and financial management, and other topics of interest to nonprofit organizations.
  • In-person access to the Nonprofit Resource Center is available when the library is open to the public.

Accessing the Nonprofit Resource Center

Special note regarding access to the Nonprofit Resource Center during the pandemic:

On Campus

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the campus library and the Nonprofit Resource Center may not be open to the public or may have limited hours of operation. Please call the campus at (609) 463-4774 or email fin@atlantic.edu in advance of your visit to confirm the days and times of operation.

Off Campus

In response to the challenges of providing access to FIN resources during the COVID-19 pandemic, Candid has been providing free online access to individuals through local FIN hosts like Atlantic Cape Community College to FDO Essential, an abridged version of the original FIN databases. To ensure the ongoing availability of a free secure system, Candid has now converted FDO Essential to a day-pass system requiring registration.

How Does It Work?

Before you can get access to the new FDO Essential, you must request a link from Atlantic Cape. You will then create an account that will give you access to the FDO Essential site for 24 hours every 30 days. To request a link, please send email to FIN@atlantic.edu

  • To get started, click on the link you receive by email from FIN at Atlantic Cape.
  • Follow the instructions to create an FDO Essential account. You will need to remember your user name and password to log in next time you want to use FDO Essential.
  • When you log into your account, you will initiate a Day Pass to use FDO Essential. You will be able to get access to the database for a 24-hour period. Check the clock at the top of the screen to see how much time you have left.
  • Users are allocated one 24-hour pass every 30 days. To reactivate your account, use the link you received from Atlantic Cape to the FDO Essential Login page. Login using the user name and password you created for your account. You will then open another day pass that can be used for 24 hours.
  • Need more detailed instructions? Check out the FDO Essential Day Pass Guide.
  • Free Access to FDO Essential is currently expected to be available through 12/31/2021.
