Atlantic Cape to Offer Paramedic and EMT Certification Programs this Fall

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College will offer Paramedic Certification and Emergency Medical Technician Certification programs this fall for emergency responders interested in advancing their training.
Paramedic Certification, 6-10 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning Sept. 7, teaches participants how to manage pre-hospital care based on paramedic theories, utilize critical thinking in decision-making processes and build upon prior EMT knowledge and experience to advance career. Program applicants must have current EMT-Basic and CPR certifications, a high school diploma or GED, and successfully complete a program entry exam.
Emergency Medical Technician Certification, 7-10:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturdays, beginning Sept. 9, prepares students to perform basic life support as an Emergency Medical Technician, including: adult and pediatric medical and trauma assessment, basic airway support, CPR, use of AED, assisting patients with medication administration, splinting, bleeding control, lifting, transferring and transporting stretchers and patients.
Lecture and lab modules will take place at the Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape’s Worthington Atlantic City Campus, 1535 Bacharach Blvd. Clinical expertise will come from various hospital settings and students will also gain field experience on paramedic units.For more information, or to register, contact (609) 343-4814 or visit www.atlantic.edu/hpi.
