Trustees Defer Resolutions Until August Meeting
July 28, 2011
Due to an unexpected lack of a quorum, the Board of Trustees took no action on resolutions during the regular monthly July 26. The board will hold all actions up for a vote until the Aug. 23 meeting. Trustees and Dr. Peter L. Mora, president, did provide some reports.
Chairman Nicholas Talvacchia read two letters into the record. The first was from attorney Michael R. Rann of Linwood who received the 2011 President’s Distinguished Alumni Award in May, thanking the college for the honor. The second was from U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez congratulating the graduates at the college’s 44th annual commencement.
Dr. Mora presented the cost containment model recommended by the Budget, Finance and Audit and Long Range and Capital Planning committees to the board. The model was developed by the college and RPK Consultants. Dr. Mora introduced Rick Staisloff who gave an extensive presentation on the components of the plan, which include: using strategic finance to increase productivity and reallocate resources to unfunded priorities; a matrix showing the cost savings over time; and a set of key performance indicators to track the progress in using resources wisely to execute the goals of the Strategic Plan.
The next meeting of the board of trustees will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, in J-202, Mays Landing Campus. All are welcome to attend.
