'Don't Call Me Francis' and 'Sensational Soul Cruisers' to Perform at 2012 Restaurant Gala
February 28, 2012
Regional favorites, The Don’t Call Me Francis Band, the Sensational Soul Cruisers, the Ocean City Pops and Lenny Mitchell will entertain hundreds of guests at the 29th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala on Thursday, March 22, at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino.
The Don’t Call Me Francis Band has performed at the Restaurant Gala since 2010, and in the Philadelphia and tri-state region for more than 20 years. The band brings high-energy entertainment, a variety of music genres and boasts successful musicians who have played with some of the best entertainers in the business, including: The Bruce Springsteen band, Motley Crue, the Beach Boys, Steve Winwood, Tom Jones and Brian Setzer.
The Sensational Soul Cruisers will make their Restaurant Gala debut at the 2012 event. The group features four soulful vocalists who pay homage to performers like Otis Redding, Barry White, the Commodores and more. The Soul Cruisers’ style includes several costume changes and traditional show band choreography.
With the theme, “Dine like Royalty,” the Gala promises to be the region’s crowning event, featuring lavish décor, trumpeters and a sumptuous feast.
The annual black-tie event celebrates food by highlighting sumptuous hors d’oeuvres prepared by students in the Academy of Culinary Arts and showcasing the specialties of more than 50 of the area’s best restaurants at a progressive dining experience.
The event has raised more than $2.5 million for scholarships since 1984. All Gala proceeds benefit student scholarships at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.
