Hurricane Sandy Closes All Campuses Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 28-30

October 26, 2012

Due to Hurricane Sandy, all Atlantic Cape Community College campuses will close Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 28-30.

All classes and events scheduled on the college's campuses are cancelled.  Rutgers and Fairleigh Dickinson classes held at Atlantic Cape are also cancelled.

Atlantic Cape will share emergency information via this website, text alerts and on Facebook at Twitter.

You can also find updated information about the emergency preparations in Atlantic County at http://www.readyatlantic.org/or Cape May County at www.readycapemaycounty.org.

The Hamilton Township Police Department and Office of Emergency Management encourage local residents to make these preparations:

1) Secure items on your property such as trash cans, lawn furniture, children’s toys, etc.
2) Ensure drains and gutters are clear of leaves and debris.
3) Be sure loose braches and shrubs are cleared from your property.
4) Find out your best evacuation route should evacuations be required.
5) Prepare a 3-day supply of water and food in the event of power outages.

Residents should continue to monitor the progress of the storm closely. Also, residents living on lakes and along the river should keep a close eye on water levels and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

Additionally, The NJ Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) is advising that residents can stay informed about emergencies and disasters that are occurring in New Jersey, and what the NJOEM is doing to help NJ residents during adverse conditions. NJOEM uses a variety of public information tools to communicate emergency information, and also information regarding weather closings, early dismissals, delayed openings, etc.

Some tools NJOEM recommends include:

NJOEM on FB: www.facebook.com/READYNEWJERSEY

NJOEM on Twitter: @NJOEM2010

NJ State Police FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/NewJerseyStatePolice

NJSP on Twitter: https://twitter.com/NJSP

NIXLE New Jersey residents can register to receive messages by sending a text message with their zip code to 888777 (data rates may apply depending on your plan). Online registration is also available at www.nixle.com.
