ACCC Staff Members Complete Leadership Training

Three Atlantic Cape Community College staff members graduated from the Academy for Leadership and Development in June after completing the yearlong training. Graduates include: Patricia Owens of Egg Harbor Township, acting dean of Continuing Education and Resource Development; Shirley Shields of Egg Harbor Township, program coordinator of the Learning Assistance Center, and Gina Skinner of Atlantic City, director of admissions and recruitment.The Academy for Leadership and Development advances organizational leadership and provides succession planning for leaders in community and technical colleges. It was created in conjunction with the Chair Academy, a division of the Maricopa Community College District, in Mesa, Ariz.
The program includes on-site training and a practicum experience that focuses on the development and implementation of a professional development plan. Some of the topics covered include: The Complex Role of the Organizational Leader, Building Effective Work Teams, Strategic and Scenario Planning, Managing Conflict, Leading Change, and Appreciating Diversity.
