Volleyball Player Named ‘Woman of the Year’

Atlantic Cape Community College volleyball player Sarah Street was named a “Woman of the Year” by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. Women of the Year recipients were honored at the annual New Jersey National Girls and Women in Sports Day Jan. 27 at a ceremony at Seton Hall University.
Street, of Egg Harbor City, was selected as Atlantic Cape’s 2013 representative for her exceptional volleyball and academic success, according to Mike Rennick, assistant director of athletics. She was presented with the award at the luncheon, along with other outstanding high school and college female athletes from across the state.
Street, 20, is pursuing and Associate in Science degree in business at Atlantic Cape. She was selected for the 2011 and 2012 All Garden State Athletic Conference Volleyball Team
The mission of National Girls and Women in Sports is to develop and deliver equitable and quality sport opportunities for all girls and women through relevant research, advocacy, leadership development, educational strategies and programming in a manner that promotes social justice and change.
Each year, the NJAIAW presents the Woman of the Year award to one exceptional athlete from each college and university in the state for their achievements in athletics, academics and community service.
