Atlantic Cape Receives Scholarship Donation from South Jersey Gas Customers
March 11, 2014
The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation received a donation from South Jersey Gas customers recently for the School Counts scholarship fund to benefit Atlantic and Cape May County students who have earned the School Counts certificate.
The nearly $11,000 donation will provide $750 scholarships to full-time students and $500 to part-time students who present a School Counts certificate from their high school.
The funds were raised by South Jersey Gas customers who donated $1 to the School Counts program via their gas bills.
“Atlantic Cape is grateful for the efforts of South Jersey Gas in School Counts. The School Counts program is designed to prepare high school students for the workforce and post-secondary education and to promote student achievement in New Jersey’s schools,” said Dr. Peter L. Mora, Atlantic Cape president. To earn a School Counts certificate, students must maintain a minimum “C” average in all academic courses, an attendance and punctuality record of 95 percent and complete high school in eight consecutive semesters.
