23rd Annual Press of Atlantic City Restaurant Gala Will Be a Feast for the Eyes
September 30, 2005The Press of Atlantic City Restaurant Gala will take attendees on a wild adventure of the senses at this spring’s event, Thursday, March 23, 2006, at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The 23rd annual Gala invites patrons to “Feast Your Eyes” on the culinary delights of nearly 40 of the area’s best restaurants. The annual event also includes music, dancing and a dessert extravaganza. All Gala proceeds benefit student scholarships at the Academy of Culinary Arts and Atlantic Cape Community College. The Gala Committee announced these details during a kickoff luncheon Sept. 28 at Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant on ACCC’s Mays Landing Campus. In addition, Gala Steering Committee Co-Chair Charlie Bryant presented Dr. Peter Mora, ACCC president, and Lynda Pagliughi, ACCC Foundation president, with a check for $168,000, the proceeds from the 2005 Gala. Since 1984, the event has raised more than $1 million for student scholarships. The ACCC Foundation also announced the return of its 50/50 raffle, with a drawing to be held at the March 23 Gala. Tickets will cost $100, and five cash prizes will be awarded. Call Heather Oliver at (609) 343-4802 for raffle tickets. Nearly 900 people attended the charity event in 2005. Their contributions, and those of the participating restaurants and sponsors, help ensure that the regional hospitality industry will remain strong with well-trained culinary arts professionals.
