ACCC Art Gallery Exhibit Features Paintings by Maryland Artist
February 7, 2007
Atlantic Cape Community College's Art Gallery will feature the recent work of artist Calvin A. Coleman II through Feb. 23. A reception to meet the artist will be held from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
Coleman, a resident of Upper Marlboro, Md., will exhibit a group of acrylic and mixed media paintings. Within this collection, Coleman shares his appreciation for architecture, nature, sports and the human form. Each body of work was constructed to ignite the senses and emotions in a different manner, but by using the same technique and style for each.
Born in Hampton, Va., Coleman spent his adolescent years in Swarthmore, Pa. He attended Lincoln University and earned a degree in early childhood education. After 14 years of teaching, Coleman committed to becoming a full-time artist in 2004. Coleman has exhibited work in Toulouse, France, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Washington, D.C.
The ACCC Art Gallery is on the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, adjacent to the theater in C-building (C-125). Visitors use parking lot 3.
