Brittany Williams of Margate Wins Regional ACCT Award
August 29, 2007Brittany Williams, executive assistant to the president and director for Board of Trustees Services at Atlantic Cape Community College, is the recipient of the Association of Community College Trustees 2007 Northeast Region Professional Board Staff Member Award. Williams, of Margate, will receive the award at the ACCT annual Community College Leadership Congress in San Diego in September.
As the Northeast Region winner, Williams is a nominee for the national award, which will be announced at the conference. In her role at ACCC, Williams is the lead manager of the college's new Board Development program, supports all board activities, serves as a liaison between faculty and the president, and collaborates with other college departments.
In nominating Williams for the award, Robert Boyer, chairman of ACCC's Board of Trustees, said her "leadership has been critical to the implementation of a range of new initiatives that respond to the board's needs."
"In addition to being a significant professional achievement for Brittany, this award also reflects the excellent progress the ACCC board has made over the past two years in developing a model program for community college Board of Trustee development," said Dr. Peter L. Mora, ACCC president.
Williams has served on several college committees, including the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation team visit, the college's 40th anniversary celebration, and the president's inauguration.
Williams joined ACCC in 2001 as an admissions specialist, became the executive assistant to the president in 2004, and was promoted to her current title in June. She is pursuing a master's degree in Higher Education Management at the University of Pennsylvania.
