Academy of Culinary Arts Offers Tasty Summer Workshops

Spice up your summer with a variety of hands-on workshops at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College.
New this year is the International Series with a Healthy Twist, a gastronomical journey to the far corners of the world featuring exotic yet healthful dishes that can easily be replicated at home. The series will be held 6-9 p.m. six Wednesdays May 28-Aug. 13. Workshops will focus on the cuisines of Italy (May 28), Asia (June 11), Mexico (June 25), France (July 9), Morocco (July 23) and America (Aug. 13). Individual classes are $65; $350 for the entire series. All classes include instruction in a first course, main course and side dish.
Also new this year, and perfect for the warm weather season, is the Summer Barbecue Series taking place 6-9 p.m. five Tuesdays June 3-July 29. June 3 features The Pig, with instructions on how to barbecue ribs; learn all about barbecue brisket and other beef cuts with the June 17 Beef class; the July 1 session will focus on Seafood on the Barbie, from tuna to shellfish; learn great ways to grill chicken on July 15 with Fowl on the Fire; whip up sumptuous sides for outdoor cookouts on July 29 with BBQ Side Dishes. Individual classes are $65; $300 for the entire series.
Other summer classes are Summer Entrée Salads 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 10; Cold Soups 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 24; and Easy Summer Desserts 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Cost is $65 per workshop.
