199 Students Receive $159,300 in Scholarships

One hundred ninety-nine students were awarded 111 scholarships totaling $159,300 at Atlantic Cape Community College's 41st Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony on May 21. The scholarships and their recipients include:

AAUW Marion MacEwan Second Chance Scholarship-awarded to a Cape May County female who has completed at least 15 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Presented to Deborah A. Fox of West Wildwood and Jennifer Kilroy of Sea Isle City.

AAUW AC Branch Scholarship in memory of Emily Tort-awarded to a graduating sophomore female student who plans to attend Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in a baccalaureate program. Must be an Atlantic or Cape May county resident with high scholastic ability and good moral character. Presented to Jill Scheer of Galloway.

ACCC Faculty and Staff Scholarship Fund-awarded to a second‑year student who has demonstrated excellence. Presented to Monika Lewandowski of Mays Landing and Neka Martin of Atlantic City.

ACCC Nursing Alumnae Scholarship-awarded to a student entering her/his third semester of the nursing program. Presented to Nora Navarro of Wildwood Crest.

ACCC Scholarship Fund-awarded in recognition of outstanding applicants who did not meet the established criteria of other scholarships. Presented to Jorgelina Cabell-Diaz of Mays Landing and Corrie Worrell of Hammonton.

Alyce Van Sant Eshbach Scholarship-awarded to a returning female student who resides in Atlantic or Cape May county and is an allied health major in good academic standing. Presented to Deborah Thornton of Atlantic City.

Andy J. Scholarship-awarded to a full time student majoring in culinary arts or business. Presented to Marina Gromova of Ocean City.

Anita Metzger Scholarship-awarded to a second year student majoring in child development/child care education. Presented to Marjorie Schmeltzer of Egg Harbor Township.

Anthony A. Ercolani Scholarship-awarded to a culinary arts major entering his/her second year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Kimberly Quaile of Haddonfield.

Anthony A. Previti Family Charitable Foundation Inc. Scholarship-awarded to one male and one female majoring in education, medicine, law or engineering. Presented to Henok Abebe of Galloway and Kristen Gummel of Cape May Court House.

ARC Reprographics Online Auction Scholarship-awarded to a nursing student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Jennifer Kilroy of Sea Isle City.

Art Club Achievement Award-awarded to a full- or part-time Studio Arts student. Presented to Judith Murawski of Rio Grande.

Albert Jones Award-awarded to a student aspiring toward a career in the human services field. Presented to Jenell Washington of Atlantic City.

Atlantic City and County Board of Realtors Scholarship-awarded to a graduating student who is continuing his or her education at a four-year institution. Presented to Jennifer Fipp of Northfield.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Culinary Scholarship-awarded to culinary arts majors in good academic standing who are involved in student activities and display leadership qualities. Presented to Robert Mustardo of Ventnor and Manuel Taylor III of South Seaville.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Howard Persina Scholarship-awarded to a hospitality major in good academic standing who desires to work in the Atlantic City area upon graduation. Presented to Patrice Jacuk of Medford.

Avalon Carpet Tile and Flooring Cape May Fundraiser Scholarship - awarded to a returning full- or part-time Atlantic or Cape May county resident who has completed at least 12 credits with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Amanda Crew of Villas.

Barbara Rimm Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a graduating nursing student who exemplifies a genuine love and knowledge for the nursing profession and shows courage, fortitude and love for their fellow man. Presented to Lacey Robinson of Northfield.

Boardwalk Regent Club Scholarship-awarded to a disabled student who is a graduate of Atlantic County Special Services or is interested in the pursuit of a career working with the disabled. Presented to Jessica Kane of Cape May Court House.

Bob Friend Scholarship of Culinary Arts-awarded to a culinary arts student aged 25 or older with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Kathleen Meiklejohn of Galloway.

Borgata Restaurant Gala Scholarship-awarded to a second year culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Cape Bank Cape May Fundraiser Scholarship- awarded to full- or part-time students from Atlantic and Cape May counties who have completed at least 12 credits with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Kristen Gummel of Cape May Court House and Shireen Rawson of Absecon.

Delaware River & Bay Authority Cape May Championship Golf Tournament Scholarship-awarded to a Cape May County resident with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Presented to Crystal Hamer of Cape May Court House.

Delaware River & Bay Authority Cape May Fundraiser Scholarship- awarded to a returning full- or part-time student with at least 12 credits and a GPA of 2.5 or higher and a resident of Atlantic or Cape May counties. Presented to Michael Gannone of Villas.

Doris S. Grossman Theater Scholarship-awarded to a theater major who is actively involved in theater and plans to pursue a theatrical career. Presented to Jose Figueroa of Brigantine.

Dr. Oliver Henderson Memorial Scholarship-awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May county resident with at least 28 credits earned at ACCC or the N.J. Marine Science Consortium. Must be an environmental marine or public health major with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Stefaniya Gerganova of Egg Harbor City.

Edward James Yoa Memorial Award-awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May county resident who has earned at least 25 credits at ACCC with a GPA of 3.4 or higher and plans to transfer. Presented to Kevin Coopersmith of Northfield.

Edwin Zaberer Scholarship for Academic Excellence-awarded to a second year culinary arts major in good academic standing. Presented to Paige Puentes of Hammonton.

Hoffman Agency Cape May Gala Scholarship-awarded to a returning full- or part-time student with at least 12 credits from ACCC with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and a resident of Atlantic or Cape May counties. Presented to Kathleen Accardi of Somers Point.

International Assoc. of Administrative Professionals Scholarship-awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in Office Systems Technology with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Brenda Rivera of Mays Landing.

James H. Boyd Memorial Scholarship- awarded to a full-time Cape May or Atlantic County student who is interested

in pursuing a career in government or politics. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Nichole Kilpatrick of Ventnor.

James D. Schofield Scholarship-awarded to a nursing student who has entered the clinical portion of the program based on demonstrated potential in nursing. Presented to Christine Block of Somers Point.

Jamie Crescenzo Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May county resident majoring in criminal justice. Presented to Deena Fetrow of Egg Harbor Township.

Jane Scharfetter Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full- or part-time student from Atlantic or Cape May county majoring in education. Presented to Pamela Palmer of Atlantic City.

John Carbone Memorial Scholarship-awarded to full-time culinary arts students who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. May be from Atlantic or Cape May County. Must be an active ACF member or junior member. Presented to Betsy Baker of Estell Manor and Christina Davis of Egg Harbor Township.

John E. Stellman Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a returning full-or part-time student who has demonstrated support to fellow students in their learning process. Presented to Monika Lewandowski of Mays Landing.

Major League Management Endowment Fund-awarded to a culinary arts major, preferably first-generation college bound, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Presented to Tony LaForgia of Lakewood.

Precision Auto Restaurant Gala Scholarship-awarded to a returning culinary arts students must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Science/Math Division Award-awarded to a full- or part-time second-year math or science major with at least 24 credits and a GPA of 3.25 in their major and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Mariam Hussein of Ventnor.
