Office Specialty Courses Lead to Career Advancement

August 14, 2008

Atlantic Cape Community College is offering specialized classes to address the increased need for skilled office workers.

The Office Technology Specialist program offers students with the comprehensive training necessary to work in today's high-tech offices: document production; database creation and management; spreadsheets; accounting using QuickBooks 2007; grammar; proofreading; and other valuable skills. The class also includes a four-week supervised internship in a real office. The course is held 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, beginning Sept. 8 at Mays Landing East.

The Medical Administrative Office Specialist course trains students in appointment scheduling, receptionist duties, filing, billing, coding, collections, medical terminology and other skills required to work in a busy medical office. Upon completion of this course, students qualify to take two National Healthcareer Association exams to become a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant and a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist. The costs of the exams are included in the course fee. The class is held 8:30-2:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday, beginning Sept. 15 at the Health Professions Institute at the Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus.

Mays Landing East is at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike. The Charles D. Worthington Atlantic City Campus is at 1535 Bacharach Blvd.
