HPI Offers New Health Profession Courses

The Health Professions Institute at Atlantic Cape Community College has added some exciting classes for this fall and beyond.
The Electrocardiogram Technician class, 6-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 22-Dec. 8, is an 11-week program that prepares students for careers as EKG technicians. After completing this course, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certification examination.
Certified Nurse Aide Recertification is designed for CNAs in long term care who are required to renew their expiring certificates under state law. Enrollment is ongoing.
The Advanced Surgical Technology course, beginning in spring 2009, is a 250-hour program providing an alternative route for current surgical technicians to obtain the Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
HPI is also offering a new online course: Administrative Veterinary Assistant. This course prepares students for careers as administrative veterinary assistants, covering everything from pet patient care to such administrative duties as fee collection and pet insurance. Registration is ongoing.
The HPI, which celebrated its grand opening in May, occupies 6,000 square feet and includes a science lab, lecture classrooms and a computer center. The HPI offers comprehensive training for a number of health care careers including: Surgical Technician, Certified Nurse Aide, Medical Terminology, Phlebotomy and Clinical Medical Assistant.
