173 ACCC Students Receive $133,840 in Scholarships

One hundred seventy-three students were awarded 93 scholarships totaling $133,840 at Atlantic Cape Community College's 42nd Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony on May 18. The scholarships and their recipients include:

AAUW Marion MacEwan Second Chance Scholarship-awarded to a Cape May County female who has completed at least 15 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Presented to Deborah A. Fox of West Wildwood and Brigid Sadorf of Cape May Court House.

ACCC Faculty and Staff Scholarship Fund-awarded to a second‑year student who has demonstrated excellence. Presented to Kristen Gummel of Marmora.

ACCC Nursing Alumnae Scholarship-awarded to a student entering her/his third semester of the nursing program. Presented to Jane Diep of Atlantic City.

ACCC Scholarship Fund-awarded in recognition of outstanding applicants who did not meet the established criteria of other scholarships. Presented to MaryFrancis Cahill of Egg Harbor Township and Sarah Cossabone of Egg Harbor City.

Alyce Van Sant Eshbach Scholarship-awarded to a returning female student who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County and is an allied health major in good academic standing. Presented to Kristen Tuder of Cape May Court House.

American Association of University Women AC Branch Scholarship-in memory of Emily Tort-awarded to a graduating sophomore female student who plans to attend Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in a baccalaureate program. Must be an Atlantic or Cape May County resident with high scholastic ability and good moral character. Presented to Tiffany Vellon of Buena.

Andy J. Scholarship-awarded to a full time student majoring in culinary arts or business. Presented to Elizaveta Cherenkova of Marmora.

Anita Metzger Scholarship-awarded to a second year student majoring in child development/child care education. Presented to Edward Williams of Villas.

Anthony A. Ercolani Scholarship-awarded to a culinary arts major entering his/her second year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Barry Mostyn of Cherry Hill.

Anthony A. Previti Family Charitable Foundation Inc. Scholarship-awarded to one male and one female majoring in education, medicine, law or engineering. Presented to Kristen Gemmel of Marmora and Zachary Pashley of Ocean View.

Art Club Achievement Award-awarded to a full- or part-time Studio Arts student. Presented to Judith Murawski of Rio Grande.

Atlantic City and County Board of Realtors Scholarship-awarded to a graduating student who is continuing his or her education at a four-year institution. Presented to Sheyla Ayala-Mantilla of Marmora.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Culinary Scholarship-awarded to culinary arts majors in good academic standing who are involved in student activities and display leadership qualities. Presented to Valerie Cisneros of Williamstown.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Hal Young Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a culinary arts student who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Brian Fischer of Mays Landing.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Howard Persina Scholarship-awarded to a hospitality major in good academic standing who desires to work in the Atlantic City area upon graduation. Presented to Amira Mills of Galloway.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Jonathan Benanav Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Alanna Musumeci of Hammonton.

Atlantic City Restaurant Association Scholarship-awarded to a culinary arts major in good academic standing with three letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Barrie Woodington of Cinnaminson.

Atlantic City Soroptimist Scholarship-awarded to a female student in the health care field with good academic background and involved in community service. Presented to La'Toyah King of Atlantic City.

Barbara Rimm Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a graduating nursing student who exemplifies a genuine love and knowledge for the nursing profession and shows courage, fortitude and love for their fellow man. Presented to Karen Goldberg of Cape May.

Baucus & Co. Scholarship-awarded to Cape May County students majoring in business administration. Presented to Elizaveta Cherenkova of Marmora; Akilah Hughes of Ocean City; Barbara Keegan of Wildwood; Heather Mawson of Villas; and Russell Mulford of Tuckahoe.

Boardwalk Regent Club Scholarship-awarded to a disabled student who is a graduate of Atlantic County Special Services or is interested in the pursuit of a career working with the disabled. Presented to MaryFrancis Cahill of Egg Harbor Township.

Borgata Restaurant Gala Scholarship-awarded to a second year culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Mahbuba Akhtar of Egg Harbor Township and Betsy Baker of Estell Manor.

Cape May County Chamber of Commerce "School Counts!" Scholarship-awarded to a full-time Cape May County student majoring in Business or Communications. Presented to Lindsey Hand of Stone Harbor.

Cape May County Championship Golf Tournament Scholarship-awarded to Cape May County residents with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Cynthia, Lorraine and Jim Cooper Scholarship-awarded to an Atlantic County student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Anastasia Arakhlanova of Atlantic City and MaryElizabeth Couch of Richland.

DAR Scholarship/Gen. Lafayette Chapter-awarded to a graduating history or liberal arts major residing in Atlantic County and transferring to a four-year school. Presented to Neka Martin of Atlantic City.

Doris S. Grossman Theater Scholarship-awarded to a theater major who is actively involved in theater and plans to pursue a theatrical career. Presented to Erin Laffey of Cape May Court House.

Dr. Oliver Henderson Memorial Scholarship-awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident with at least 28 credits earned at ACCC or the N.J. Marine Science Consortium. Must be an environmental marine or public health major with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Sree Bandaru of Absecon.

Edward James Yoa Memorial Scholarship-awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident who has earned at least 25 credits at ACCC with a GPA of 3.4 or higher and plans to transfer. Presented to Corrie Worrell of Hammonton.

Edwin Zaberer Scholarship for Academic Excellence-awarded to a second year culinary arts major in good academic standing. Presented to Mary Chesky of Egg Harbor Township.

Gala Endowment Scholarship-awarded to culinary arts majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Cynthia DiGiovanni and Caitlin Hickey of Egg Harbor Township; Kimberly Graham of Stratford; and Kathleen Meiklejohn of Galloway.

George C. Donaghue Memorial Scholarship Fund-awarded to a second year full-time student majoring in travel and tourism or hospitality management. Presented to Sum Chan of Mays Landing.

Golf Endowment Scholarship-awarded to a Cape May County student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Kelly Hobbs of North Cape May.

Helen Dilks Eshbach Scholarship-awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in business in good academic standing who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Tashiva Torres of Galloway.

James H. Boyd Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full-time Cape May or Atlantic County student who is interested in pursuing a career in government or politics. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Michael Suleiman of Galloway.

Jamie Crescenzo Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in criminal justice. Presented to Shanise Callahan of Egg Harbor Township.

Jane Scharfetter Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full- or part-time student from Atlantic or Cape May County majoring in education. Presented to Amanda Deacon of Brigantine.

John Carbone Memorial Scholarship-awarded to full-time culinary arts majors who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. May be from Atlantic or Cape May County. Must be an active ACF member or junior member. Presented Betsy Baker of Estell Manor and Valerie Cisneros of Williamstown.

John E. Stellman Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a returning full-or part-time student who has demonstrated support to fellow students in their learning process. Presented to Karolina Ozga of Linwood.

Joseph Messick Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a returning student who has earned 24 or more credits majoring in History or Liberal Arts or a member of the History/Government Club. Presented to Amanda Benson of Mays Landing.

Joseph O'Connor "Play It Forward" Scholarship-awarded to a Cape May County resident with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Dante Barfield of Wildwood.

Joseph R. Zelnik Memorial Journalism Scholarship-awarded to a student who plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in journalism, desires to work in newspaper journalism and displays talent and academic excellence. Presented to Aliya Amilani of Mays Landing.

Joy Eshbach Roehnert Scholarship-awarded to a female nursing major in good academic standing, who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Debra O'Leary-Kurtz of Atlantic City.

Karen M. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund-awarded to a student who is pursuing a baccalaureate degree in mathematics. Recipient must demonstrate qualities of strong character and high motivation. Presented to Bang Tran of Galloway.

Kevin Cooper Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a returning full-or part-time liberal arts student with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Rosaliyn Henriquez of Atlantic City and Ronnise White of Newtonville.

Libby Demp Forrest Moore Memorial Writing Scholarship-awarded to a full- or part-time student interested in a career in journalism or writing with a GPA of at least 2.5. Presented to Aliya Amilani of Mays Landing.

Major League Management Endowment Fund-awarded to a culinary arts major, preferably first-generation college bound, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Presented to Shawn Zenszer of Mount Laurel.

Margaret Wright Nursing Award-awarded to a Cape May County second year nursing student. Presented to Stephanie Rosenberger of Cape May Court House.

Maria L. Fabel Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a full-time nursing student from Atlantic or Cape May County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Jon Ledford of Galloway.

Marion White Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a returning ACCC student from Atlantic or Cape May County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference given to a Studio Arts major with special emphasis on Folk craft and painting art. Presented to Michelle Mauro of Brigantine.

Pinnacle Restaurant Gala Scholarship-awarded to returning culinary arts majors with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics as evidenced by two letters of recommendation from chef educators. PR Council of Greater Atlantic City "Shore" Scholarship-awarded to a communication major who plans to transfer to a baccalaureate communication or public relations program. Must be a resident of Atlantic County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Jacquelyn Loder of Linwood.

Rachelle Stover Memorial Scholarship-awarded to an Atlantic County resident majoring in hospitality management with a GPA of 2.5 or higher transferring to a baccalaureate hospitality program. Presented to Kathleen Gibson-Singley of Egg Harbor City.

Ruth L. Williams Memorial Scholarship-awarded to a student seeking a bachelor's degree in social sciences. Presented to Andrea Mallon of North Cape May and Carlos Paredes of Mays Landing.

Zonta Club Scholarship-awarded to a woman returning to school or attending for the first time to enhance her ability to support her family. Must be enrolled in a career‑oriented program in good academic standing. Presented to La'Toyah King of Atlantic City.
