Atlantic Cape Community College conferred the first President's Distinguished Alumni Award to Janice DeCicco Fipp, Ed.D., superintendent of the Northfield School District, at the 43rd Annual Commencement, May 20.
Fipp, of Northfield, attended the college from 1968 to 1970, then she went on to Glassboro State College to earn a bachelor's degree in general elementary education and a master's degree in supervision and curriculum development. In 1999, Fipp earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She has served as a teacher in Linwood and Northfield, a principal at Northfield Community School, and as an instructor at Atlantic Cape, University of Phoenix, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and Rutgers University.
"I have truly become a life-long learner," Fipp said. "A great deal of the passion and insatiable appetite that I have for knowledge was instilled in me from the many outstanding professors I had at Atlantic Cape."
The award, initiated by Atlantic Cape's Alumni Association Advisory Committee, recognizes an Atlantic Cape graduate who has demonstrated professional, personal, public or community-based accomplishments. The prestigious award demonstrates Atlantic Cape's dedication to strengthening its alumni relations.
