Travel Experiences Offer Getaways to Maryland, Virginia

Take in the history at Mt. Vernon, Va., Saturday, July 17, the charm of St. Michaels, Md., Saturday, Aug. 14, and the flavors of the Maryland Seafood Festival, Saturday, Sept. 11, through Atlantic Cape Community College’s travel programs, coordinated and presented by Boscov’s Travel.
Get a dose of history with “George Washington–A Conversation,” 9-11 a.m., Friday, July 16, at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike. This discussion will focus on Washington’s contributions to the nation’s military and political history and highlight the significant features of his Mount Vernon estate. This seminar is $20.
Then, visit Mt. Vernon with a self-guided audio tour of the gardens, grounds, mansion house and more than a dozen outbuildings and a guided tour of George Washington’s Distillery and Gristmill. Enjoy a full-course lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn. This trip is $105 per person.
Explore St. Michaels, Md., with a trip that includes: admission to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum with the nation’s most complete collection of Chesapeake Bay artifacts, visual arts and indigenous watercraft, a narrated cruise along the Miles River and lunch at a local restaurant. This trip is $115 per person.
It’s about fun and feasting at the 43rd annual Maryland Seafood Festival at Sandy Point State Park, in Annapolis, Md. This trip includes 10 food tickets, admission to the festival, where visitors can enjoy seafood, scenery, live music and kids beach activities. Additional food tickets can be purchased at the event. This trip is $85 per person.
