The chart below gives some ideas of how our flexible programs at the Academy of Culinary Arts can meet your needs. Our recruiter can help you construct a program that’s right for your goal.

What you get

Associate's Degree Program. Confers an associate's degree which can enable you to graduate to transfer as a junior to a four-year program.

Want some college and a degree in culinary arts or baking and pastry

Two year degree in baking and pastry or culinary arts

Associate in Applied Science in Culinary or in Baking and Pastry

Want to manage a franchise or a chain restaurant; or want to work in food in hotels, hospitals or corporate cafeterias.

Two year degree in foodservice management

Associate in Applied Science in Foodservice Management.

46-Credit Option -- Same for-credit culinary courses as above, but without the general education credits.

Want college-quality culinary education, without the liberal arts classes. Or already have a degree in something.

46-credit program, same culinary courses as the AAS. Takes two years to complete.

Culinary certification plus national certification in foodservice sanitation; possible medal

Professional Development Specialization Program. Confers a certificate; credits can be applied toward a degree. Takes less than 2 semesters.

Are already in the industry and want to upgrade in an intense program; are changing careers; or want a condensed-time culinary training without the degree.

17 credit hot food specialization program in culinary arts.

Culinary certificate in hot food plus national certification in foodservice sanitation

Working in the industry; want to pursue a specialized baking or pastry career; want condensed-time baking and pastry training without the degree.

17 credit baking and pastry specialization program.

Certificate in baking and pastry plus national certification in foodservice sanitation

Already working in industry; want to run your own small independent restaurant; don't need the degree, or already have one

19 credit foodservice mgmt. specialization.

Certificate in foodservice mgmt. plus national certification in foodservice sanitation

Want to run or own a catering business; don't need the degree, or already have one

23 credit catering specialization program.

Certificate in catering plus national certification in foodservice sanitation

Culinary Career Training. Non-credit courses. Program can be completed in six months.

Want a certification that shows you know the fundamentals; want to sample the culinary spectrum; or want a broad introduction to cooking and baking that will get you a hands-on job. Aren't aiming for management now.
