Student Information for Commencement

Commencement will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. on the Mays Landing Campus. YOU MUST APPLY BY FEBRUARY 19, 2010. This year's Commencement speaker is Mr. Don Marrandino, President, Eastern Division

2009 Commencement

Complete the Degree Processing Card and take it to the Business Office on the Mays Landing campus, Cape May County Campus or Worthington Atlantic City Campus and pay the $30 degree processing fee by February 19. This deadline MUST be met if you want your name to appear in the newspaper and the commencement program whether or not you participate in commencement. If you have any outstanding obligations to the college, they must be paid before applying for your degree.

After receiving your application, the Enrollment Services staff will complete a degree audit. You will be notified by letter that either your audit is satisfactory pending completion of your spring classes, or your audit is unsatisfactory and directions on how to proceed.

  • STUDENTS WHO ARE SHORT MORE THAN TWO COURSES or HAVE A GPA BELOW A 2.0 WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO MARCH IN COMMENCEMENT.

  • Diplomas will NOT be handed out at commencement. Once you have completed your degree requirements and have been certified as a graduate, your diploma will be ordered and mailed to you.   • If you previously attended another college or university and have had a transcript sent to Atlantic Cape, contact the Admissions Office to check that the courses have been evaluated and are on your transcript; 609-343-5006, 609-463-4774, ext. 5006, or bclark@atlantic.edu.

  • A member of your graduating class is eligible to serve a one-year membership on the Board of Trustees. This position is filled through an election process. The elected student will be seated in July 2010 and serve until the following June. If you are interested, please complete the application, and return it to the Dean of Students Office or contact gedwards@atlantic.edu by March 5, 2010.

Procedures for Fair/Rainy Weather

Caps, Gowns and Honor Stoles

Cap, gown and honor stole must be ordered and paid for at the College Bookstore by Friday, March 12th, 2010. The cost for a cap, gown and tassel is $28.99 (an extra tassel is $5.99). The cost for the honor stole (including a red tassel) is $26.99. Payment must be made at time of order. A $10 late fee will be charged for orders after March 12th. Caps and Gowns will not be ordered or sold after May 7th. Caps and gowns may be picked up at the College Bookstore in Mays Landing with your receipt after April 26th (if ordered by March 12th).

If you already have a cap and gown, please notify the Dean of Students Office at (609)343-5083, or (609)463-4774, ext. 5083, or gedwards@atlantic.edu that you will be participating or you will not be included in the ceremony.

The Bookstore hours are: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
                                      Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
                                      Closed Spring Break, March 15th through March 19th.

Announcements, tickets (needed for rain only, indoor ceremony, maximum 3 per graduate) and a detailed instruction sheet for fair and rainy weather will be enclosed in your cap and gown package when you pick it up.

Honors Criteria

There are two CGPA criteria for honor status that can make you eligible to wear an honor stole:

  1. If you entered Atlantic Cape prior to Fall 1994 and have a CGPA of 3.0 or above
  2. If you entered Atlantic Cape during/after Fall 1994 and have a CGPA of 3.5 or above

IMPORTANT: You MUST fall under one of the above criteria using your Fall 2009 CGPA to be eligible to wear an honor stole. Spring 2010 grades cannot be counted in your CGPA for Commencement.
