For students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution, this degree program offers a broad introduction to business administration and provides the background for baccalaureate majors in accounting, management, economics and computer information systems.
This curriculum provides the theoretical, practical and professional knowledge needed for careers in policing, corrections, courts, probation, parole, private security and related services. Emphasis is placed on preparing students for the workplace or continued studies in a four-year institution.
A transfer program for students interested in elementary/early childhood teaching certification, this degree option maximizes transfer of credits and academic status to a professional teacher education program. Students must satisfy the requirements for admittance into the four-year college and its teacher certification program in order to transfer.
This option can lead to various baccalaureate degrees. The program is designed for students undecided about a career who want to explore different fields. Nearly three-quarters of the required courses are traditional liberal arts classes and easily transferable to four-year institutions. Remaining courses can be in any subject area.
This degree program provides a well-rounded liberal arts background for students who plan to continue their education. Careers directly related to history include teaching, museum work and research. Students seeking a baccalaureate degree in history from a four-year institution should obtain an A.A. degree in liberal arts. It is recommended that not more than 15 credits be earned in history at ACCC to avoid transfer problems because four-year institutions usually prefer that courses in a major be taken there.
Designed to give students opportunities to explore various disciplines before selecting a career area, this degree option can lead to a baccalaureate degree in history, literature, philosophy, religion or the arts; the humanities option can lead to careers in education, the arts, communications, law and other non-technical fields.
This degree prepares students for transfer to four-year liberal arts programs. In the core general education courses, emphasis is on major fields of academic inquiry, their approaches to creating knowledge, important developments in these fields, and the implications that these have for decision-making in private and public lives. Students build on this foundation and prepare for continued study in a major by completing additional credits in an area of concentration.
This degree allows students to explore various disciplines before selecting a specific career area. Basis for baccalaureate degrees in psychology, sociology, social work, economics, law and other fields related to the study of social institutions. Although jobs in the social sciences are available for those with a bachelor’s degree, many positions require a master’s degree.
