A Message From Dr. Gaba - May 4

May 4, 2020

Dear College Community,

As we turn the calendar to May 2020, there are better times ahead for all of us. I hope students, faculty, and staff and their families continue to stay safe and healthy. In the meantime, we focus on the goal to complete the Spring semester.

I have received several emails from students who have shared with me their personal, inspirational stories about how they are working hard 24/7 at home taking care of their families, assisting their children with homework, trying to put food on the table, all while squeezing time in for themselves to do the necessary classwork to complete their classes. Our student’s stories demonstrate a willingness and drive to complete this semester successfully even with the greatest challenges before them. Students’ perseverance will pay off, and I thank our faculty for their understanding and assisting students in their online classes.

Update on Graduation

A few weeks ago, I wrote to advise you that Commencement would be postponed while we practice social distancing due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We listened to our graduates, and this year we will acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our 2020 graduates both virtually and in person.

First, I am pleased to announce that we will have a Virtual Graduation sometime in June through YouTube and Facebook, with links from our website. Students will be receiving emails shortly to help us prepare for this celebration.

In addition, on Saturday, December 5, 2020, we will hold a "traditional" Commencement Ceremony at Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center, Avalon Ballroom at 11 am. This is a time for graduates and their families to celebrate together the accomplishments of their students who have worked so hard to achieve their Associates Degree. We look forward to celebrating with our students.

Atlantic Cape’s Superheroes Featured on TV

As you know, registration for Summer and Fall semesters are in full swing. I wanted to share with you the TV commercials that are being featured on the local cable TV channels starting today. The commercials feature Atlantic Cape students, faculty, and alumni who are just some of the superheroes from our college community. Since we are open for registration for the Summer and Fall semesters, the commercials also remind students to register.  Please click on the links to view the 15 second and 30 second TV spots.

Additionally, Atlantic Cape was just featured today on PHL17 – TV station in Philadelphia where Ms. Joelle Motley, Student Government Association (SGA) President shared her own personal story and discussed the College’s initiatives giving back to our community, and about giving opportunities to the Foundation to help students with the greatest need.
