Atlantic Cape celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month begins Sept. 15 and Atlantic Cape Community College is celebrating.

Events begin with a live performance by Angelica Maria and Pasofino Social Club Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center at the Mays Landing campus.

Angelica Maria will perform her powerful poems and songs accompanied by Pasofino Social Club, a popular tri-state area Latin band. Light refreshments will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

On Sept. 29 at 5 p.m., visit the Mays Landing campus Student Center for a screening of “In the Heights,” a 2021 musical film based on the stage musical of the same name co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes, and directed by Jon M. Chu.

An encore presentation of the film will be available for streaming all day on Oct. 15. Visit atlantic.edu/sgaconnections for a live link.

To celebrate National Taco Day on Oct. 4, the cafeteria at the Mays Landing campus will offer one free taco and drink to students with their ID. This event, sponsored by the Student Engagement Office and the Student Government Association, begins at 11 a.m. and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

At 6 p.m. on Oct. 7, Adriel Gonzalez and his 12-piece Salsa orchestra will perform at the Walter Edge Theater on the Mays Landing Campus. Light refreshments will be served at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
