Atlantic Cape Community College was honored by Stockton University's Unidos Organization and the Hispanic Association of Atlantic County for its outreach efforts to the Latino community during the Nuestro Pueblo Awards ceremony Saturday, Oct. 9 at Stockton's Atlantic City campus.

Atlantic Cape received the Nuestro Organizational Amigo/a, or Our Organizational Friend, award for its vaccination work during the pandemic at the Atlantic City megasite and other community outreach programs.

The college has worked to increase its social outreach by leading and collaborating on projects that directly address the needs of the local Hispanic community, such as food drives, hot meal distributions, free COVID-19 testing, vaccination clinics, DACA information sessions, consulates, and a wide array of community events and resource fairs.

This year, Atlantic Cape Community College was also designated federally as a Hispanic Serving Institution and recognized in a Senate Resolution Oct. 8 sponsored by U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) celebrating the critical role the 569 HSIs across the country play in "educating and empowering the next generation of Hispanic leaders."
