Prerequisites: You MUST have a complete physical exam and two-step PPD test (for exposure to tuberculosis) or chest x-ray. Proof must be provided when registering for the class. This is a mandatory regulation and there will be NO exceptions. Fingerprinting and a criminal background check are also required. Candidates must successfully complete an academic assessment test.
Becoming a certified nurse aide is a great way to launch your career in the healthcare profession. This 90-hour program is approved by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS). The curriculum includes 50 hours of classroom lecture with lab, 40 hours of clinical experience and meets the curriculum requirements mandated by the NJDHSS. This program will prepare you to sit for the NJDHSS written examination and the required skills evaluation.
As a CNA, you will be eligible for employment in a long-term care facility, assisted living facility, adult medical day care or some hospitals. Many facilities offer tuition reimbursement plans that will enable you to further your education in nursing or other allied health positions.
