Digital Media Design

Prerequisite: Candidates must obtain a reading score of 10 and math score of 10 on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).

Learn the principles of graphic and Web design using a blend of lecture, hands-on activities and projects that will assist you in mastering the skills necessary for this career. In addition, the projects you work on in class will help you develop a professional portfolio, which you can showcase to potential employers.

You will begin by learning the fundamentals of graphic design, which will include layout and grid use, typography and the effective use of color. Later, you will learn how to apply these principles using industry standard software such as Adobe’s InDe¬sign, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop. Once you have mastered the essential skills of graphic design, you will move on to the Web design section where you will learn the fundamentals of Web technologies, along with how to design and create effective websites using Adobe’s Dreamweaver software. It also includes 50 hours of hands-on experience with various businesses in South Jersey. Once you have completed this course, you will be prepared to sit for the CIW Associate certification exam. The cost of the exam is included. This program is eligible for up to six college credits toward an Atlantic Cape degree on successful completion.

Instruction will include the following courses: Graphic Design Fundamentals, Photoshop,
Illustrator, InDesign, Internet Business Foundations, Website Development Foundations, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Suite, Adobe Flash and Corporate Identity & Branding Project. Book ISBN numbers will be available upon registration.
