Introduction to PV Design and Installation and Exam Prep

The NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam is based on a set of learning objectives developed by NABCEP Committee of PV subject matter experts. PV design and installation concepts will be reviewed. You will define, describe and apply the following core skill sets: PV markets and applications, safety basics, electricity basics, solar energy fundamentals, PV module fundamentals, system components, PV system sizing principles, PV system electrical design, PV system mechanical design, performance analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting. Green Solutions Conference for the Restaurant Industry

In partnership with the Atlantic County Utilities Authority and the Academy of Culinary Arts.
Join us for this informative conference where industry experts will discuss how to make sustainability part of your culture, the cost of doing nothing, practical green solutions for small and large operations, and how to implement a “buy local” produce plan and green-influenced kitchen design.

Rick Dovey, president, Atlantic County Utilities Authority, will discuss how to get started with commercial recycling, and Gary Conover, solid waste director, Atlantic County Utilities Authority, will present a case study on how a wastes audit helps improve the bottom line. Selecting a site for a solar facility requires careful consideration of zoning laws and process. NEW! Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Training and Certification

Participants will be presented with the guidelines for acceptable practices of testing backflow prevention devices. The participants will also learn the principles of cross-connection control and methods and devices used to prevent backflow of undesirable substances into water distribution and plumbing systems carrying potable water.

Upon completion of the course, participants will have the information to pass the American Society of Sanitary Engineering Examination, which will be administered the last day of training.

This certification course provides the necessary training and testing for individuals seeking certification as a Backflow Prevention Program Administrator. The course consists of 32 hours of training culminating in a 50-question exam and a 25-question practical examination. During the training portion of the course participants will discuss the basics of hydraulics pertaining to backflow prevention systems and components, safety, cross-connection control containment surveys, product identification and performance, elements of a cross-connection control program, and proper terminology.

In-Home Energy Survey Professional

This is a comprehensive course that prepares you to become certified as a home energy survey professional. The course presents concepts in Energy & Building Shell, Air Leakage, Insulation, Windows & Doors, Water Heating, Lights & Appliances, Health & Safety, as well as Chapter 7 & Appendix A of Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) Standards. Successful completion of the course will prepare you for the RESNET exam at an additional cost. The course requires that you purchase “Residential Energy” by John Krigger & Chris Dorsi.

The Building Performance Institute’s Associates Certification empowers home inspectors and building professionals with the expertise to become BPI certified. The Building Analyst Certification program equips you with the knowledge and expertise to conduct energy audits and improve the quality of your inspection business. This hybrid program combines online classroom instruction with hands-on training. This class includes a field trip for the hands-on part of the program. Location will be announced on the first day of class. Students must be willing to travel within Atlantic and Cape May County.

Envelope Professional Certification

This course is offered in partnership with Forever Green Training and Sustainable Design.
Envelope Professional Certification provides building analyst professionals with a specialized skill set to accurately estimate the cost savings of weatherization improvements. This course offers knowledge on measurements and verification of a building and its overall performance. This additional credential empowers accredited contractors to guide homeowners in energy efficiency retrofitting–helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions from homes while helping homeowners save money by reducing their utility bills. This hybrid program combines online classroom instruction with on-site, hands-on training. This class includes a field trip for hands on part of the program. Location will be announced on the first day of class. Students must be willing to travel within Atlantic and Cape May County area for the hands-on part of the program.
