This course is designed to provide network administrators and engineers for small- and medium-sized businesses with an overview of the skills necessary to implement and manage virtual machines using VMWare’s vSphere. Students will be introduced to the benefits of virtualization and will then learn the process of installing, configuring and managing the virtual machines. Students will also practice how to secure these systems and monitor them for availability.
Topics covered in this course will include: Introduction to Virtualization; vSphere products and components; ESX Architecture/Compatibility Requirements/Licensing; difference between ESX and ESXi; install and configure ESX or ESXi; install and configure vCenter Server components; install and configure vSphere Client; deploy, manage and migrate virtual machines; and manage user access to the VMware infrastructure. NEW! IPv6 Fundamentals
Prerequisite: Minimum one year experience in the IT field.
This course is designed for network engineers and technicians supporting IPv4 environments. Student will learn how to write and decode IPv6 addresses along with designing IPv6-based networks. In addition, students will examine the new streamlined IPv6 packet header, how Neighbor Discovery works with ICMP, and how to manage address assignment with managed and unmanaged network environments. Students will also learn how to design and optimize CIDR-based IPv6 networks to improve routing performance. Students will work with the latest equipment to support these environments, including Windows 7 and Cisco-based routers. (4.0 CEUs)
