How to Succeed In Your Academy Experience

Atlantic Cape and Academi Prep have partnered for this seven-hour program that will help prepare you for any Law Enforcement Academy. Students will learn the expectations in basic military drill, physical fitness, firearms and academic instruction. Ed Musick of Academi Prep, who has 25 years of experience in law enforcement, will lead the course. Class size limited to 12 students.

LGBT Financial Planning: Same Goals, Different Challenges

This two-hour discussion is meant to help you and your partner protect the life you’ve created, preserve your assets and ensure those assets will one day be transferred the way you intend. The following topics will be discussed: domestic partnership agreements, establishing a legally enforceable framework for your partnership, durable financial power of attorney, planning for the unexpected, health care documents, managing the risk of an extended illness, long-term care needs, and options for titling assets. NJ Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Training

Prerequisite: Must obtain temporary state
certification before enrolling in course. Temporary certification is good for 30 days.

This 24-hour course is applicable to all security practitioners as well as former law enforcement personnel tasked with the safety and security of the businesses they serve. The course curriculum includes instruction in the following:

This eight-hour refresher course will allow you to renew and maintain your certification for an additional 2 years. Strictly Selling

Whether you are selling clothing, cars, real estate or stocks, “selling” is the most basic and fundamental skill required to be a successful entrepreneur. Many companies are engaging their customers through social media and other marketing efforts, but they lack the sales expertise to close a sale. In this six-hour session, you will learn from our sales expert, John Huber, the “art of selling.” You will learn how to go from order taker to salesperson and three strategies to close a sale. You will learn the difference and relationship between marketing and sales, work habits required for successful sales, time management, goal setting, how to turn failure into success, the dollars and cents of being a salesperson, connecting with the customer and understanding what the customer needs.

Career Development For Millennials

If you’re a Millennial, born in 1980-2000, learn strategies for success in the workplace targeted for your generation. The workshop covers personal branding, how to be a standout candidate for career advancement, getting noticed, building a resume of measurable work outcomes, and successful communication and networking skills. This class will be taught by Donald Hoover, vice president of Placement Consulting Gaming Hospitality Experts LLC and associate professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Wine for Industry Professionals

You don’t need to be in the business to appreciate this course. We will provide an overview of food and wine pairing and cover the best ways to store and serve wine. This course will also cover sparkling, sweet and fortified wines, including wine styles and basic spirits. By the end of the workshop, you will have the fundamental ability to create your own interesting and unconventional pairings and the confidence to describe and recommend wine to your friends.

Crime Prevention for Small Businesses

Small businesses face a variety of threats. External threats, including burglars, robbers and hackers, as well as internal threats like employee theft. Learn how to evaluate and reduce both external and internal threats to your business. Facilitator Tom Davey has 28 years of experience in local law enforcement.
