How To Apply

There are several steps you must take when applying for financial aid. To ensure that you are applying for the maximum funding under both federal and state programs, please complete each step carefully as follows:

Step 1- Obtain a FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov

  • Apply for a FSA ID to electronically sign your FAFSA.

  • If you are a dependent student, your parent needs their own FSA ID.

Step 2- Complete your FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov

  • All Federal grants, loans, and federal work study program funds are awarded based on the information you provide on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This application is free and every student should complete this application, regardless of your family’s financial status.
  • Use the Data Retrieval Tool when you complete your FAFSA to save time and ensure accuracy.
  • Enter Atlantic Cape Community College’s school code: 002596.
  • Check that your application is complete and that it has all the required signatures. Submit your FAFSA.

Step 3- Apply for State Aid

  • Upon submitting your FAFSA, click on the Start your state application link and respond to the questions.
  • If you forget to complete this step you may go to njfams.hesaa.org. Log in or create a student account. Then, answer the questions on your checklist.

Step 4- Watch for Communication

  • Check email and mail for correspondence from FAFSA and HESAA.
  • Atlantic Cape students check your student Buccaneer email. Download missing documents at atlantic.edu/finaid/internetlinks.html
  • Complete and submit necessary documents to the Financial Aid Office. Respond Promptly.

Step 5- Contact Atlantic Cape Financial Aid

  • Check your Self Service Web Advisor at atlantic.edu/webadvisor. Go to atlantic.edu/finaid/selfservice.html for detailed instructions.
  • If aid is not posted six weeks after submitting the FAFSA and all necessary documentation, please visit the Financial Aid Office or call 609-343-5082.
