Here at Atlantic Cape Community College, we are dedicating our time and effort to support our Veterans in reaching their educational goals. We acknowledge all of their efforts and sacrifices in keeping our nation safe and strong and we are proudly developing new support systems to help our Veterans with the transition from soldier to student.
At Atlantic Cape, we are pleased to provide the services of a dedicated counselor, Mr. Michael Barnes, who will be available to our Veterans for:
- Academic career counseling
- EOF services
- Mental health referral services
- and other support as needed
The Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs Office Certifying Official, Michelle Andrews, is also available to help students navigate through the educational benefit process.

Veterans Educational Benefits
The Admissions office at Atlantic Cape Community College is the liaison with the VA Regional processing Office in Buffalo, NY to assist veterans, dependents of veterans, reservists and National Guardsmen/women with the application and certification process. This office will assist the student to apply for their respective education benefits for the Montgomery GI Bill under Chapter 30,31,32,35,1606,1607,VEAP or Post 9-11/CH 33. Questions regarding the eligibility of a veteran or dependent can be answered by calling 1-888-GIBILL1 or e-mailing the VA at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website

Military/Student Categories
Any individual who is currently under contract with any branch of the U.S. military in an active duty status, may qualify for Tuition Assistance. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is an agreement between the member's command and the Atlantic Cape Cashier's office. This benefit is separate from VA Education benefits.
Prior to enrolling into an institution, service members need to first check with an education counselor or Educational Services Officer (ESO), for the specifics involving TA by visiting their local installation education office, contacting your education counselor or ESO, or by going online to a virtual education center.

Higher Education Benefits Signed into Law for Veterans August 2017
Military veterans are getting unlimited access to college assistance under legislation President Donald Trump has signed into law.The Forever GI Act removed a 15-year limit on using the benefits, effective immediately. The measure increases financial assistance for National Guard and Reserve members, building on a 2008 law that guaranteed veterans a full-ride scholarship to any in-state, public university, or a similar cash amount to attend private colleges.

Veteran Benefits
Veterans having a service connected disability that entitles them to veteran compensation can receive tuition and fees paid to the college under this program. The Department of Veterans Affairs in Newark, NJ must submit VA Form 28-1905-Authorization and Certification of Entrance and Reentrance Into Rehabilitation and Certification of Status Form to the admissions office. This form allows Atlantic Cape Community College to bill the VA for tuition and fees at the time of registration.

Veterans who have served at least 90 days in active duty service since September 10, 2001. Students must fill out VA Form 22-1990-Application for Education Benefits at https://benefits.va.gov/benefits/vonapp.asp. Copy of DD-214(Member Copy 4) must be submitted to the admissions office. Submission of Form 22-1990 or certificate of eligibility(approval) from the VA is required for Atlantic Cape Community College to bill the VA for tuition and fees. At the time of registration. The BAH for Atlantic Cape Community College effective January 2011 is 1,992.00 a month. The percentage of eligibility for the Chapter 33 benefit as defined by the VA will determine the exact BAH benefit for each veteran.

Surviving spouses and children of veterans who died of a service connected death, disability, or surviving spouses and children of veterans with a permanent service connected disability. Students submit VA Form 22-5490-Application For Survivor’s and Dependent’s Educational Assistance at https://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp . A certificate of eligibility must be submitted by the student to the admissions office in order to be certified.
