This position requires rotating shifts at any ACCC location. This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy. It requires duties to be performed in all weather and emergency conditions. This position is exempt from the bargaining unit.

Security Captain

Duties: Reports to the Director of Public Safety and Security; assists the director with various law enforcement and security functions; protects life and property of individuals and the college; completes preliminary investigations of incidents; advises director of significant incidents at assigned locations; directs security personnel and equipment response in the absence of the director; monitors security equipment and supplies; maintains security incident reporting systems; assists supervisor in reviewing security programs, systems and procedures and promoting/coordinating professional development of colleagues; maintains security incident log, completes monthly reports and, in the absence of director, prepares and disseminates duty schedules for all campuses; assists director in assigning and supervising parking lot attendants and part-time staff; advises director of changes in assigned location with regard to use, personnel, facilities, procedures, etc.; serves on College and/or community-based committees/organizations related to safety and security; performs duties of security guard I and II and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:Valid NJ Driver’s license. Certified in CPR & First Aid. Background in
Emergency Response and FEMA training preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of security and law enforcement procedures and ability to work under adverse conditions. Demonstrated proficiency in communications, specifically with customer relations and incident reports. Demonstrated ability to perform with little supervision and to remain calm and make rational decisions in crisis situations. Computer literacy. Knowledge of Competitive Edge Security Reporting System. Minimum three years supervisory experience in a diverse academic environment.
