This is a temporary one-semester position, subject to grant funding approval which is scheduled to expire on or before June 30, 2018. General Description: Faculty members are primarily teachers and responsible for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in teaching responsibilities.

Addiction Counseling Specialist Instructor

Salary: $24,044.
  • Reports to the Dean of Liberal Studies
  • Teaches 15 hours per week of courses in Addiction Counseling Specialist Studies, particularly those offered toward requirements for a CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor)
  • Participates in related curriculum development, revision and accreditation
  • Assists in evaluating and establishing clearly-defined grading standards
  • Communicates and executes classroom plans effectively
  • Maintains at least three office hours per week
  • Clarifies student expectations and standards for assessing learning
  • Assists students in advisement
  • Pursues professional development and teaching effectiveness through attendance at workshops and conferences
  • Participates in college governance including, but not limited to, division-level tasks and college-wide committees
  • Monitors overall student progress
  • Stays abreast of, and reinforces, regulatory and procedural changes in the Addiction Professional Certification Board of New Jersey, Inc.
  • Adheres to departmental and college policies
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree required with degree in social work preferred
  • Master’s degree in human services, counseling or psychology will be considered
  • Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor for minimum of two years
  • Minimum five years’ experience working in addictions field
  • Two years’ experience teaching
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
