Assistant Professor, Nursing

  • Reports to Division Chairperson, Nursing and Allied Health
  • Develops learning experiences and assignments appropriate to class subject
  • Evaluates students based on class and course outcomes
  • Selects learning experiences for students in clinical to meet course outcomes and individual learning needs
  • Instructs students in patient assessments
  • Instructs in the use of evidenced based practice to develop and implement appropriate plans of care
  • Serves as role model for nursing students
  • Performs pre- and post-conferences in the clinical area to help students build on and integrate clinical and theoretical links
  • Instructs students in the use of health care informative
  • Instructs and evaluates students in both written assignments and clinical documentation
  • Evaluates students on clinical course objectives
  • Participates in activities/continuing education programs to maintain expertise in nursing theory and practice
  • Maintains current knowledge of Associate Degree Nursing philosophy, regulations, and policies
  • Maintains nursing professional requirements
  • Uses current teaching methodologies that incorporates technology
  • Advises nursing students
  • Participates in departmental committees and meetings
  • Serves on college-wide and/or ad hoc committee
  • Serves as a mentor to clinical field specialists
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Jersey
  • Clinical experience in medical/surgical nursing
  • Minimum two years teaching experience
  • Ability to teach in all areas of nursing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
