  • Provides executive leadership for the overall direction, management, professional development and selection of full-time and adjunct faculty through each department’s area coordinator
  • Supervises, evaluates and provides guidance to instructional and administrative personnel, including professional direction and supervision for faculty during tenure and promotion processes
  • Actively promotes a climate of collegiality and peer support throughout the Liberal Studies division and faculty at large
  • Provides leadership in the development of policy, procedure, programs and systems in support of credit programs in departments supervised
  • Serves as an advisor to the VPAA on liberal studies curricula and operational initiatives, providing leadership in the identification of academic and workforce needs and recommendation of new and emerging areas of study and technologies, facilitating their implementation and growth
  • In support of the VPAA and in conjunction with Student Affairs, develops active, integrated support to the career, academic, and developmental goals of students, including active support and promotion of emerging student success initiatives
  • Responds to student concerns and inquiries
  • Models and implements effective management strategies with faculty and adjuncts in such areas as on-going professional development, peer and student mentoring, behavioral assessment and customer service awareness
  • Promotes familiarity and competence in instructional techniques including distance delivery of instruction
  • Supports the VPAA in the facilitation of governance processes and manages complaints and grievances from students and staff pertaining to instructional matters
  • Provides oversight for all academic program reviews covering those academic departments within the Liberal Studies division while applying effective strategic planning and finance strategies in determining future development of new programs and direction of present programs
  • Provides oversight for all required learning outcomes assessment functions within the Liberal Studies division
  • Develops and sustains outcomes assessment processes targeting all programs of study and the Liberal Arts division as a whole
  • Demonstrates reliance on the analysis of data and report writing to guide future action and program planning
  • Accountable for the effective integration of reliable learning outcomes data with specific strategies to improve curricula and instruction on an ongoing basis
  • Actively collaborates with assigned area coordinators regarding the following duties: scheduling of courses, assignment of instructors, approval of adjunct hires, scheduling of adjunct observations, approval of instructional substitutions and delivery of adjunct development programs
  • Schedules ongoing one on one meetings with each area coordinator and Associate Dean of Academic Support Services to monitor progress of all assigned initiatives, projects, and routine duties
  • Provides oversight to the coordination with student affairs regarding articulation agreements with four-year colleges
  • Provides active involvement in partnership programs between the college, local high schools, select community-based organizations, area social service agencies, and other institutions of higher learning, both two-year and four-year public/private
  • Develops implements and monitors complex departmental budgets in concert with strategic plan and with other members of the VPAA’s staff
  • Working with College Relations, responsible for the development and implementation of marketing plans and promotional materials for credit programs
  • In conjunction with Institutional Research, monitors and analyzes enrollment trends and assists in the development of long-range planning
  • Projects student credit hours, develops course schedules and implements class sections and assigns faculty loads accordingly
  • Makes recommendations to the VPAA regarding the development, change or deletion of programs and courses
  • In conjunction with Resource Development, assists in the identification of grant and other external resources to further program development to meet student success goals
  • Assists with development and monitoring of Perkins Grants
  • Supports the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and improved academic and career offerings to students and the community
  • Represents the college as required
  • Ensures all departments act in compliance with FERPA, Title IX, Title IV, Clery Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal and state regulations as well as college policy
  • Serves as an internal resource to members of the college on matters related to Liberal Arts Education
  • Serves on college campus-wide committees including the college’s Cross-Functional Student Success Committee
  • Orients new adjuncts to college policies, procedures, and resources
  • Updates and maintains faculty handbook in conjunction with the Dean of Career Education and the Dean of STEM Programs
  • Plans and implements adjunct professional development program in conjunction with the Dean of Career Education and the Dean of STEM Programs
  • Oversees Distance Education initiative in conjunction with the Academic Deans, including hiring and supervising DE facilitators
  • Oversees Academic Affairs administration of adjunct payroll documentation, online instruction overload pay, faculty overload pay, and internet reimbursement
  • Supervises the Mays Landing faculty support staff and office operations
  • Supervises administration of student evaluations of faculty
  • Maintains budgets for faculty support office
Minimum Requirements:


  • Master’s degree required
  • Doctorate or doctoral-prepared individual preferred


  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative leadership
  • Experience in program development, implementation and operations

  • Knowledge of theories of learning as they relate to the developmental and the adult learner
  • Demonstrated ability to develop measurable outcomes and assessments strategies to formulate data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and technology skills
  • Excellent communication skills to include public speaking, report-writing and Board level presentations
