Department: Facilities Management This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy and the bargaining unit agreement. It requires duties to be performed in all weather or emergency conditions. Reports to the Supervisor of Custodial and Building Services. Performs heavy cleaning assignments including floors and kitchens; grounds work including snow/ice removal; event set-up/break-downs; and general maintenance projects to maintain the college’s facilities and in support of special events as needed.

  • Performs a variety of grounds, labor maintenance and heavy cleaning projects
  • Moves and relocates college equipment and furniture
  • Operates heavy floor cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, extractors and strippers
  • Performs heavy housekeeping, kitchen cleaning and grounds services as assigned
  • Assists in installation, repair and maintenance of irrigation systems, all roads and parking areas
  • Replaces all types of lighting lamps and ballasts
  • Mows grass
  • Performs all aspects of snow/ice removal and treatment
  • Operates mechanical motorized equipment
  • Sets up chairs, tables, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in commercial or institutional kitchen cleaning
  • Experience in heavy project cleaning, grounds work, sprinkler systems, and landscaping
  • Skills in the use of simple tools grounds equipment and custodial equipment
  • Must pass an employment physical examination administered by the college’s health office
  • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and a valid N.J. driver’s license
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to read, write and understand written job orders and operating instructions
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, work on scaffolding
The primary shift will be in the evening, Monday through Friday.  This position is primarily located at the Mays Landing campus and may require shifts at any Atlantic Cape Community College location.
