Library & Academic Support Services Aide (PT/Evenings)

  • Reports to the Associate Dean, Academic Support Services
  • Works cooperatively with the library and academic support staff to provide excellent service to Atlantic Cape students and faculty.  
  • Perform library circulation desk functions (patron registration, inter-library loan, shelving, holds, managing reserves, etc.)
  • Assist students, staff and classes with using college library resources such as searching for print material and utilizing electronic library resources and online research databases.
  • Assist students and staff with general computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, Internet resources, navigating online courses, scanning and printing.
  • Answer telephone calls, record statistics, enter data into spreadsheets or databases, and assist with scheduling tutor appointments.
  • Regular communication with supervisors regarding facility operations and functions is essential.
  • Maintain an organized and clean facility. Light housekeeping duties required.
Minimum Requirements:

 This position requires a person with the desire to work in a challenging and diverse academic environment. The ability to work effectively with people of widely varying skills and abilities is essential. Strong commitment to customer service. Desire to learn new skills continually and a general enthusiasm for education is a must. Physical requirements include the ability to lift fifty pounds, and the ability to spend considerable time standing and walking.

Basic knowledge of computer and office hardware is required (computers, printers, scanners, copiers, projectors, etc.). Also required are basic skills in popularly used software applications (especially MS Office, Google applications, and the Internet). Associate degree or higher. Experience working in a library, school or academic environment is preferred. Foreign language skills are a plus. Excellent communication skills are essential.
