Maintenance Mechanic II - Job Opportunities at Atlantic Cape

Reports to the Supervisor of Facilities Management with Maintenance Foreman providing oversight and delegation of duties. The core responsibility for this position is to service and maintain heating and air conditioning systems in addition to other maintenance services needed. This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy and the bargaining unit agreement. It requires duties to be performed in all weather or emergency conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains, services and operates HVACR systems and respective controls
  • Works on utilities involving water, sewer, gas, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Conducts preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities
  • Establishes and conducts regular building maintenance inspections
  • Assures that overall facilities conditions are safe
  • Operates work control system to receive all emergency and services requests
  • Responds to work orders; repairs and maintains alarm systems, doors/windows and related hardware, fire suppression systems, boilers and associated delivery and support systems, and chemical treatment systems
  • Performs tasks generally assigned to or performed by crafts such as electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and masonry
  • Removes/controls snow and ice
  • Assists housekeeping and furniture/equipment setups/relocations when necessary
  • Provides basic customer service relations services
  • Meets, greets and directs students and campus visitors
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • HVACR experience
  • Must pass an employment physical examination administered by the college’s health office
  • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and a valid N.J. driver’s license
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
  • N.J. Black Seal license or ability to attain such within 180 days of hire
  • Ability to work shift duty and 24 hour call-in service

The primary shift will be 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.  This position is primarily located at the Mays Landing campus and may require shifts at any Atlantic Cape Community College location.
