Reference Books

Reference books on located in the center of the library, on the lower level. These books are for library use only and may not be checked out. There are several reference books on China. Below are only a few of the titles that you will find.

Periodical Articles

Periodical articles may be found by searching one of the full-text periodical databases listed below. If you are accessing these from home, you will need an ID and a password, which you can obtain from the library. You can access these databases from the Spangler Library Web page or by using the links provided below.

  • EBSCOhost: This database includes the full-text of over 1,000 titles, as well as abstracts and indexing for over 3,000 general interest and scholarly publications, including the full-text of Journal of Cold War Studies. This and other publications can be found by searching the Military and Government Collection. The EBSCOhost database is updated on a daily basis.
  • Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe provides access to a vast array of news and reference information, including news from around the world, facts from the World Almanac and Book of Facts, and facts and statistics on many countries.

Electronic Books

Through netLibrary, students, faculty and staff can access electronic books. These books can be read on the Internet but cannot be downloaded. At present, there are approximately 900 scholarly titles in a variety of subject areas. Additional titles are added on a regular basis. In addition to these titles, there is also a Public Collection containing classic books, speeches, government documents, and sources out of copyright and in the public domain. You will need to create an account. If you are creating an account from your home computer, you will first have to set your computer to the library proxy server. Internet Sites

There are many Internet sites on China. These can be found by searching any search engine. A few of these sites are listed below. Additional sites can be found at the under the History and Geography course quick links.

Interlibrary Loan
