Restaurant Gala Raises $214,400 for Student Scholarships; 50/50 Raffle Winners Announced

The 35th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala, with the help of guests, sponsors and donors, raised $214,400, and showcased 40 of the region’s top restaurants at the March 28 event. The proceeds from this event will benefit students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, an emergency fund for students and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City hosted the annual fundraiser, which featured the theme, “Culinary Magic,” showcasing the extraordinary talent and cooking expertise of the students and alumni of the Academy of Culinary Arts. Academy students prepared thousands of sumptuous hot and cold hors d’oeuvres served during the cocktail reception.

The Atlantic Cape Foundation honored Academy of Culinary Arts graduate Chef Georgeann Leaming’99, head chef of Gordon Ramsay Pub & Kitchen located in Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino; and Kevin Ortzman, regional president for Caesars Entertainment (Bally’s, Caesars and Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City).

The evening ended with an elegant dessert reception organized by Academy of Culinary Arts Chef Educator Daniel Matt.

Lucky ticket-holders shared $21,600 in prizes at this year’s Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala 50/50 Raffle.

The winners include: First Prize, $6,480, Jennie Ayres of Mays Landing; Second Prize, $3,240, Mary Elizabeth Marler of Northfield; and Third Prize, $1,080, Lee Budd of Ocean View.

Winning amounts were based on the number of tickets sold. This year, 216 raffle tickets were sold at $100 each, raising $21,600 for emergency aid for Atlantic Cape students.
