Geospatial Workforce Education Program of Southern New Jersey
To meet current need for highly trained professional in the areas of the geospatial technologies, Atlantic Cape Community College (Atlantic Cape) has developed the Geospatial Workforce Education Program (GeoWEP). GeoWEP will establish the partnerships between academia, the public and the private sector to meet the demand for professionals in the technologies of GIS, remote sensing, and global positioning system (GPS). The program will include:
- Evaluation of the needs from the labor market in the southern New Jersey coastal region in the area of geospatial technologies.
- Training entry-level and advanced GIS professionals for geospatial industry certifications leading to new career opportunities and advancement;
- Integration of geospatial education into multiple academic
disciplines;
Establishment of a pipeline for geospatial education for students transitioning from high school to community college to four year colleges and universities. - Evaluation of other initiatives to meet the demand of geospatial professionals.
