In December, 1981, Governor Kean signed the bill that took effect June 2, 1982, wherein it controls smoking in institutions providing education and training, and in June, 1989, Governor Kean signed the amendment to P.L.1981,C320 and established P.L.1989,C96 effective December 14, 1989, which prohibits smoking in board of education buildings.

It is the intent of the College to be in compliance with P.L.1989,C96. Said policy became effective November 1, 1990.
