Procedure No. 14.1

Area: Board of Trustees

Description: Maintenance of the Policy and Procedures Manual

Adopted: 04/23/96
Revisions Approved: 12/4/18

Maintenance of the Policy and Procedures Manual will include the following routine duties by the Board Secretary:

  1. Keep an up-to-date hard copy of the Policies and Procedures Manual in the Office of the Board Secretary.
  2. Keep the copy of the Policies and Procedures Manual on the college website up-to-date.
  3. Facilitate the process of gaining approval for new or revised policies and procedures.

Policies may be revised or new ones issued at any time the Trustees choose to do so. However, by their nature, policies do not change frequently. The President and President’s Cabinet shall usually be given opportunity to consider and comment upon proposed policy changes prior to final action by the Trustees. New or revised policies initiated by college administration must be approved by the President’s Cabinet and the President before being approved by the Board of Trustees.

Procedures may be issued at any time by the departments in which they apply. When their effect extends into other departments, the new or revised procedures must be approved by the President’s Cabinet and the President.

President’s Cabinet members will review all policies and procedures under their purview periodically, with any changes being facilitated by the Board Secretary.

Academic Administration Procedures are incorporated in the Faculty Handbook (which also contains procedures of other departments with which faculty members should be familiar.) Personnel Procedures, pertaining to terms and conditions of employment, are published in the bargaining unit contracts.
