Atlantic Cape Community College took home two Medallion Awards at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 1 Conference Oct. 25-27 in Long Branch.

Winning materials from Atlantic Cape included the oversized brochure and the overall marketing campaign for the 2021 Restaurant Gala, which both received a bronze award.

The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) is the leading professional development association exclusively serving those working in communication at two-year community and technical colleges. The Medallion Awards, held each fall during district conferences, recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges in seven districts.

The three-day District 1 conference - this year themed “Shoring Up Success” – was held at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch (Monmouth County).

The conference provides two days’ worth of workshops and speakers to help college relations and marketing professionals from community colleges share ideas and learn new ways to reach prospective, new and current students, as well as donors and members of the community.

Several members of the Atlantic Cape College Relations and Marketing team attended, and the college’s Executive Director of Marketing and College Relations Laura Batchelor and Social Media Manager Erin Mercer served on the planning committee this year. Erin Mercer also presented a breakout session during the conference titled “Pop Culture, Personality & Puns: How to Stand Out on Social Media.” Her presentation gave attendees tips and tricks on how to use humor and social media to attract a larger audience and improve engagement.

Members in District 1 are from Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, and United Kingdom.
