MAYS LANDING — Atlantic Cape Community College’s Student Support Services will be hosting the inaugural First-Generation Student Conference, “Maximizing Your College Experience,” on Wednesday, April 19 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Walter E. Edge Theatre on the Mays Landing campus.

The day will be filled with instructive breakout sessions moderated by Atlantic Cape faculty and staff members focusing on topics like mental health and financial literacy to LinkedIn/social media know-how and navigating college with a disability. Terrence C. Jones, who works with K-12 school districts, institutions of higher education and corporate partners to foster environments that effectively support student and employee achievement, will deliver the morning’s opening keynote address.

“The importance of this event is to bring first-generation students together in a setting that enables them to connect, discover and exchange best practices that enables them to thrive as scholars in higher education,” said Rashawn Martin, Atlantic Cape’s Director of Student Support Services.

Students from Camden County College and Rowan College of South Jersey, along with additional students, faculty and staff from Atlantic Cape, will be in attendance for the all-day conference. Members of Atlantic Cape’s Student Government Association will hold a panel discussion titled “I’m First-Gen and Winning!” to wrap up the afternoon.
