Head Coach

John Repnicki

BIOGRAPHY:

John began shooting archery while attending college in Florida, and qualified for the 1992 Olympic Trials. He served as assistant coach of Atlantic Cape from 2003 until 2008, and again from 2014 to current. John still actively competes. John won the New Jersey State 50 and Older Recurve Championship in 2014. John remains ranked in the top 15 Nationally.

John lives in Galloway, NJ and has two adult daughters and one granddaughter. He is a semi-retired IT professional, and has worked for the majority of his career within New Jersey’s Casino Industry.

Assistant Coach

Chad Affrunti

Chad has been involved with the Atlantic Cape Archery Program since childhood. Chad's father Bruce was Dr. Helen Bolnick’s longtime assistant coach. Chad competed at Atlantic Cape from 1997 through 2000 and was a three-time intercollegiate All-American and qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials. During his time at Atlantic Cape, Chad led the Men’s Recurve Team to three National Championship Team Finals, and a 3^rd place Overall Team finish in 1997.

From 2001 until 2008, Chad took his father’s place as Atlantic Cape’s assistant coach, under Dr. Bolnick. During this period, Atlantic Cape had great success on the archery field, winning two National Team Championships, as well as having two individual collegiate national and world champions.

After 2008 when Dr. Bolnick retired, Chad left the Atlantic Cape program to pursue professional opportunities, and stepped away from archery.

In 2014, Chad was named the Head Coach of Atlantic Cape’s Archery Team. Since returning to Atlantic Cape, Chad has worked to continue the legacy of Dr. Bolnick and grow the program. Chad's greatest pride continues to be the ability to introduce new archers to the sport he loves so much.

Chad lives in Delran, NJ with his wife and two children. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Chad works as an auditor for the United States Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General.

Assistant Coach

Jack Ward

Jack is a 1972 graduate of Atlantic Cape Community College. He received his B.A. in Administrative Studies from Stockton University in 1974.

Jack started shooting at an early age but only started competing much later in life... around age 60.

In 2019 Jack won the U.S. National Indoor Championship. (Recurve Masters 60+) Later that year, he took bronze in the Ohio 135th U.S. National Target Championships and U.S. Open. He recently took Silver in the 2022 U.S. National Indoor Championship. (Masters 70+) Jack was New Jersey State Indoor Champion (Master's Recurve, 60+) for the years 2018, 2019, 2020. In 2022, he was New Jersey State Champion. (Masters Recurve 70+)

Jack spent many years at sea as a Marine Engineer and traveled the world on freighters and tanker ships. He took part in logistical support of Operation Deep Freeze 1979 at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. His ship carried fuel for the U.S. Navy research station located there. Jack also deployed to the Persian Gulf during Desert Shield where he worked on a munitions carrier.

After 32 years sailing the world's oceans, Jack happily retired in 2011. He holds licenses for Steam, Diesel, and Gas Turbine propulsion systems of unlimited horsepower.

Jack lives on the edge of Cedar Creek Swamp in Petersburg, NJ. He strives to be a good ambassador for the sport, and to help people see that Archery is one of life's happy pursuits.
