CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Atlantic Cape Community College welcomed students back to its Cape May County campus for the Fall semester during the Welcome Back Fall Bash on October 4.

As several classes ended students made their way to the lobby where they were treated to free food, snacks, smoothies by Maui Wowi, welcome boxes filled with treats and other giveaway items. “I came back to school, after a few years away, because I wanted to better myself,” said Kinski, who was one of many students to enjoy a tasty free smoothie.

Jack Sandman, a sophomore Biology major from Erma who is halfway towards his goal of earning his associate’s degree, discussed why he chose Atlantic Cape.

I really like this campus (Cape May) because it’s a lot smaller, it feels more personal and that’s good,” said Sandman, who hopes to transfer to Rutgers University New Brunswick to study for his bachelor’s degree Environmental Science. “I like that even the Mays Landing campus is not that far for me.”

The Cape May campus’ exclusive 13-week semester officially began on September 25 and ends on December 23. The later start date allows students who work in the local tourism industry to finish their jobs at the conclusion of the summer season.

Two Atlantic Cape students speak to a college staff member"It is so wonderful to have students back on campus, taking classes and enjoying all of the amenities that we have to offer here in Cape May,” said Krista Fitzsimons, director of Atlantic Cape’s Cape May campus and community outreach. “We work really hard, and it is very important to keep students engaged and involved in college life through events such as this."
