The Mullock Family have been an integral part of the success of Atlantic Cape and the students here for more than two decades.

The family patriarch, Robert “Bob” Mullock, has been described as an entrepreneur, a history enthusiast who has been involved in preserving historic buildings. Bob served on the Atlantic Cape Foundation Board of Trustees from 2005-2015, and annually hosts the Foundation’s Scramble “FORE” Scholarships Golf Tournament at his Cape May National Golf Club. Bob Mullock is a past recipient of the President’s Distinguished Foundation Board Member Award, and the library at the Cape May County campus is named in his family’s honor. 

Bob served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He is also a former Cape May Point Commissioner and owner of The Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May. 

Over the years, the Mullock Family has dedicated their efforts to humanitarian causes around the world.  They co-sponsored a major orphanage in Somalia and the building of a halfway house for street kids in Uganda at an existing orphanage, and visited other orphanages in Kenya, Honduras, Haiti, Chile and Ecuador to assist with clothing and medical supplies. 

Last year, they worked with the Macedonia Baptist Church to open the Harriet Tubman Museum in Cape May. 

Bob and his wife, Linda, have four children: Zachary, mayor of Cape May and Executive President of Cape May National; Dillon Mullock,  Executive President of The Chalfonte Hotel; Cynthia, executive director of the Harriet Tubman Museum; and Eleanor, who was active in helping establish housing in Haiti.

“I feel guilty accepting this honor for myself and my family. Everything we have achieved has been through the efforts of a combination of family, friends, generous people and workers, and through the wonderful communities of Cape May County and the Delaware Valley,” Mullock said. 

The family’s next challenge is to save the historic St. Mary’s in Cape May Point from demolition and to establish a world class environmental ecology and marine science center there, working with Atlantic Cape Community College.

Retired ACA Dean

Chef Kelly McClay, an Atlantic City native, retired as dean of the Atlantic Cape Community College Academy of Culinary Arts in June 2021 after 26 years with the college.

Chef McClay began her culinary career at Trump Marina Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City and quickly moved up the ranks becoming the first woman sous chef in the city. In 1994, she began teaching at the ACA as an adjunct instructor and was appointed to a full-time position then to Assistant Director the following year.

In 2007, Chef McClay was named as Dean of the Academy of Culinary Arts. In the meantime, she studied culinary arts at Drexel University in Philadelphia where she received her bachelor’s in 2004. She went on to earn her MBA at Rutgers University-Camden in 2012. 

Throughout her tenure, Chef McClay was instrumental in leading and managing culinary events, featuring ACA students including at the New York Food Shows, Miss America Luncheon, Savor Borgata Food and Wine, NJ Food and Wine Festival, Careme’s Café Series, Speaker Series, ACA Homecoming event, NJ National Guard Pancake Breakfast, Breakfast with Santa, The Captain’s Table, Chaine des Rotisseurs, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, and countless other community philanthropic events. 

Chef McClay instituted the study abroad programs for ACA students and traveled with the students to Italy and France. She also instilled in the ACA curriculum the concepts of food sustainability and using locally sourced farm fresh food, including bringing the college’s greenhouse back to life.  

Chef McClay served on the 2006 and 2018 Middle States Evaluation Teams, scholarship and assessment committees, search committees, the College’s 40th and 50th anniversary celebrations, the 2006 and 2017 Presidential Inauguration planning committee, and the 2016 Presidential Search Advisory committee.
