On April 14, 2020, Atlantic Cape Community College (the College) signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to the U.S. Department of Education. The College assures that it intends to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

There are an estimated 7,000 students at Atlantic Cape Community College who are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and who are not enrolled in an exclusively online program, and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act must be used to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care)
Students seeking an Emergency Financial Aid Grant must complete a short application process affirming which categories of expenses (Food, Housing Needs, Course Materials, Technology Equipment, Technology Services, Health Care, and/ or Child Care) the student incurred resulting from the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. Each expense category was assigned a cost rating. Four specific award amounts per term were established based on ranges of the cost ratings (Spring 2020: $325, $650, $975 and $1,300; Summer 2020: $250, $500, $750 and $1,000; Fall 2020: $250, $375, $500 and $600). Based on each student’s application and expense category selection(s) certified by the student, the student will receive the respective award amount.

Based on your eligibility for Title IV funding in (term here) and the interruption of your on-campus coursework to online learning, you are invited to apply to determine CARES Act emergency relief. In order to determine if you qualify for funding through the Federal CARES Act emergency relief grants, you must complete the following short application. By completing this application, you are confirming that you have expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. In addition, a message on the College’s Website regarding the availability of the Emergency Grant funds directs current students to check their email addresses for a link to the request form. The message also directs students who do not receive an email with the link to the application to contact a dedicated financial aid representative for further information. Students who do not have a FAFSA on file have been encouraged to complete the FAFSA.

A reminder email was sent on September 17, 2020 for students who had not yet applied for Fall and confirmed the initial deadline of September 21, 2020 to apply.
In addition, new students enrolled in the Fall 2020 term impacted by the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus who are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, and who are enrolled in all off campus courses, were sent the application for the Emergency Financial Aid Grant via email. The application for these students included the following additional question to determine whether they are in an exclusively online program:
When in-person classes resume, do you plan on taking traditional classes on campus, online only or both?
Students declared in an academic program that can be completely fully online answering ‘Online Only’ were excluded from the Emergency Financial Aid Grant eligibility if the student had not previously attended an on-campus course.

Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under CRRSAA and ARP are to be used for any component of a student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs incurred due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
Institutions are required to prioritize students with exceptional need.
Atlantic Cape Community College prioritizes exceptional need by setting a higher base award amount for Pell eligible students, identifying our students with most financial need. The College is using Pell eligibility to prioritize exceptional need.
In addition to Pell eligibility, the College also identified students enrolled in specific programs that have additional costs or expenses, a higher cost of attendance, and therefore a higher financial need. These include students enrolled in specific Nursing, Radiology, Aviation, and Culinary Arts Programs.
Emergency Financial Aid grant award amounts for Spring 2021:

+ $250 Additional award for students in the high cost programs identified above
An application process was also available for students to request an emergency grant above these base awards for students demonstrating exceptional need for COVID related circumstances.

You will be receiving your Federal CRRSAA Emergency Grant via an electronic refund or a paper check in the next week.

Please log into your Student Self Service account <direct link> and complete the Required Agreement titled Summer 2021 Student Emergency Grant.
Once you complete the Required Agreement, you will receive your Federal Student Emergency Grant within the next few weeks!
To sign up for direct deposit of the grant funds, login to Self Service and select Banking information. For students who have not signed up for direct deposit, emergency grant paper checks will be mailed to the student’s address on record. Paper checks must be deposited/cashed within 60 days or be subject to forfeiture.
If you have an outstanding balance, we encourage you to utilize these funds to pay your balance via Self Service.

As an Atlantic Cape student enrolled in the <semester> term you may be eligible for a <semester> student emergency grant funded by the American Rescue Plan (HEERF III), Public Law 117-2. This emergency grant is to be used for any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs incurred due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
Please log into your Student Self Service account <direct link included> and complete the Required Agreement titled <Semester> Student Emergency Grant.
Once you complete the Required Agreement, you will receive your Federal Student Emergency Grant within the next few weeks!
